That's the case with Florida's effort to whitewash the truth about slavery via a set of standards for teaching African American history imposed on the state's public school teachers and students. The curriculum, you may recall, was condemned for a provision that the curriculum cover 'how slaves developed skills which, in some instances, could be applied for their personal benefit.
